Frequently asked Questions about RX-Z CL Safety Glasses

Are the RX Z CL rated for safety?

Yes, the RX Z CL meet the ANSI Z87.1-2010 Standards for use in Industrial Applications.  This means that these RX safety glasses meet the testing requirements for personal Occupational and Educational Personal Eye and Face Protection Devices determined by the American National Standards Institute.

Designed to keep the wearer’s eyes safe from a variety of hazards in the workplace or certain recreational activities, prescription safety glasses with this rating must be able to provide protection from liquid splash, impact, dust, small particles, and non-ionizing radiation. To prove the RX Z CL can meet these standards, they had to undergo a variety of tests that reveal how the lenses and frames respond to different types of impact, the eyewear’s ability to resist flames and corrosion, and how the glasses respond to chemical and non-ionizing radiation.

How are the RX Z CL made?

The RX Z CL are made from durable materials that are safe to use in a variety of environments. The frames and temples of the glasses are made from Xylex, which is a nonconductive resin created using a blend of polycarbonate and amorphous polyester. The material offers great chemical resistance, noticeable clarity, resistance to impact, and overall durability.

The lenses are made from shatterproof polycarbonate, which is more durable and lighter than traditional plastic lenses. One advantage of this material is that it can help correct vision without adding thickness, even for high prescriptions. These lenses also offer 100% UV protection.

Are high-prescription RX Z CL available?

RX Z CL is available in any safety glasses prescription, so even people who require high-prescription glasses can order a pair. By entering prescription details, the lenses can be designed to meet the wearer’s unique needs.

These glasses have a six-base curve, which is typically recommended for higher prescription lenses since is easy to put prescription lenses within this level of curvature. When compared to eyewear a higher curve, six-base curve glasses are typically flatter across the front of the glasses and are less likely to fog up during use. In contrast, a higher base curve gives glasses a much more rounded, bent appearance.
